Throw

The construction of a noise barrier turns a "non-place" into a place for people, a visually and acoustically protected area. The constructional demarcation serves above all to reduce the massive noise of permanent road traffic; this is still present, but to a much lesser extent. My Throw consists of pairs of sack-like objects that connect the front and behind of both sides to a simultaneous listening experience, with those hanging in the acoustically protected area serving as sound sources. Visually, each element has an invisible dependency in the background; acoustically, a new connection is created between the sounds of the now no longer visible traffic and those of my composition. The noises of the street become part of the listening process in their temporal randomness.
