Drum Orchestra + Score

The membrane of the snare drum is like a sheet of drawing paper, the drum shell a highly effective resonator, able to comment acoustically on even the slightest touch. My movements with a hard graphite pencil become notations of immediate sound generation in the variety of the emerging signs. The paper on top of the pencil is now an acoustic image carrier. While doing it a strange shift of attention happens. The eye, which is otherwise constantly checking while drawing, is suddenly dominated by the acoustic simultaneity of the action. I listen more now. The drawing activity follows the ear and directs the lines and patterns that are created. Immeditaely different images are happening.

An arrangement of drums as the instruments of this process reproduces a selection of the sound lines.
A speaker in a closed vessel allows the drum to resonate again. Through the arrangement of several drums, a composed dialogue of objects is created.
